Michael Luwoye is taking over the role of Alexander Hamilton on Broadway, and we’re so excited!
You read that right. According to Playbill.com, Michael Luwoye will be taking over the title role of Alexander Hamilton at the Richard Rogers Theatre in 2018.
Luwoye currently stars as Hamilton in the national tour; showing now in Los Angeles. He appeared on Broadway as Burr in 2016. Originally auditioning for the Chicago cast of Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Luwoye ended up as the understudy for both Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton – playing both within a two week period.
Both of us at Logan Arch had an opportunity to meet Luwoye when we saw Hamilton last October.
Luwoye was one of the most charismatic cast members we had the pleasure of meeting (second only to Chris Jackson). We are incredibly happy for him as embarks on the next phase of his career.
Luwoye deserves every success that he’s found within the world of Hamilton.
